Mountaineers Sweep Bossier Parish Behind Dominant Pitching and Explosive Offense

Eastern Oklahoma State College Baseball completed a weekend sweep of Bossier Parish on Sunday at Cavalier Drive, opening with a 2–0 shutout before closing the day with a 12–2 victory.

In the opener, the Mountaineers relied on dominant pitching and timely offense to secure the shutout win. Eastern scored both runs in the top of the second inning. Kooper Johnson reached base on a walk, and Eastern capitalized shortly after, pushing across runs on a wild pitch to take an early lead that would hold for the remainder of the game.

Jackson Green was the first pitcher to take the mound for Eastern, delivering a strong start. The right-hander allowed just one hit and no runs over 2.2 innings while striking out five. The Mountaineer bullpen was outstanding in relief, as Ty Riazi, Nate Harkins, Carlos Polania, and Landan Morse each tossed scoreless innings to preserve the shutout. Harkins pick up the win, his first of the season.

At the plate, JM Long paced the Mountaineers with a 2-for-3 performance, leading Eastern in hits, while Johnson drove in a run. Defensively, Eastern turned two double plays and played error-free baseball.

Eastern carried that momentum into the nightcap, breaking open a tightly contested game with a 10-run explosion in the top of the sixth inning to secure a 12–2 win.

After the game was tied through five innings, Joe Victery jumpstarted the rally with a two-run single. A series of disciplined at-bats followed, resulting in bases-loaded walks to Dawson Smith, Cole Edmondson, and Caleb Rey. JM Long added a two-run single, Zach Brame drove in a run with a double, and Clayton Sanders capped the inning with a two-run single to put the game out of reach.

Bossier Parish opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning, capitalizing on an Eastern error, but the Mountaineers responded in the top of the second as Bryson Carey doubled to drive in two runs and give Eastern a 2–1 lead. The Cavaliers later evened the score at 2–2 in the fourth, but Eastern seized momentum in the sixth and never looked back.

Nate Harkins earned the win in relief in the nightcap, working two hitless innings while allowing no runs and striking out two. Starter Declan Murphy worked two innings, surrendering one run on two hits, while Ethan Goodband also appeared out of the bullpen. Offensively, the Mountaineers collected nine hits, with Sanders and Long recording two hits apiece. Victery, Carey, Sanders, and Long each drove in two runs.
