Eastern Oklahoma State College Falls to Richland, 7–3
Eastern Oklahoma State College dropped a 7–3 decision to the Richland Thunderducks on Monday, unable to recover from a multi-run middle stretch by the hosts.
Eastern Oklahoma starter Caleb Rey took the mound first. The right-hander allowed three hits and three runs (one earned) over 2⅔ innings, striking out one and walking one. Richland countered with right-hander Jackson Polzer, who surrendered four hits and two runs across 3⅔ innings while recording two strikeouts and one walk.
Richland broke through in the bottom of the third inning, plating three runs. Caleb Solis started the rally with a single to center field, while Max McLemore's groundout and a sacrifice fly from Caleb Turner each brought a run home to give the Thunderducks early control.
The Thunderducks added insurance in the sixth inning when Mason Anania launched a two-run home run to left field, extending the advantage and keeping Eastern Oklahoma from mounting a comeback.
The Mountaineers scattered five hits in the contest. Dawson Smith, Kaden Dollar, Kade Matthews-Boudreaux, JM Long, and Gamble Bye each recorded a hit. Smith, Dollar, and Bye accounted for Eastern Oklahoma's three RBIs.
Eastern will take the field again this weekend when they travel to Big Spring, TX to square off with the Hawks of Howard College.
