Mountaineers Come Up Short to Coffeyville

Game 1:

Eastern Oklahoma State College Falls After Big Third Inning by Coffeyville

Eastern Oklahoma State College couldn't overcome a decisive third inning and fell 11–4 to the Coffeyville Red Ravens on Friday.

Coffeyville set the tone early in the bottom of the first. Colton Ruedy singled to drive in the game's first run, and Carson Beck followed with a two-run double to give the Red Ravens a quick 3–0 advantage.

Eastern Oklahoma answered in the top of the third. JM Long delivered a clutch double to center field that helped the Mountaineers rally and tie the game at 3–3.

The Red Ravens, however, regained control in the bottom half of the inning. Coffeyville plated five runs on four hits to take an 8–3 lead, highlighted by Max Irwin's bases-clearing double on a 3-0 count.

Yale Griffiths earned the win for Coffeyville, allowing three runs on seven hits over five innings while striking out five and issuing no walks.  Mountaineer starter Jackson Green took the loss after allowing six runs on four hits across 2⅓ innings, striking out two and walking one.Nate Lloyd was the first arm out of the bullpen surrendering four runs on six hits in 1⅔ innings.

The Mountaineer offense finished with 10 hits. Braden Sprague and Long each recorded three hits, while Long and Gamble Bye drove in two runs apiece. The Eastern defense was clean in the field, committing no errors and turning two double plays, with Bye handling a team-high seven chances.

 

Game 2:

Eastern Oklahoma State College Comes Up Short Against Coffeyville

Eastern Oklahoma State College dropped a 4–1 decision to the Coffeyville Red Ravens on Friday.

Coffeyville struck quickly in the bottom of the first inning. Shawn Bareno doubled to center field to drive in a run, and both Max Irwin and Brady Shackelford followed with run-scoring fielder's choices to give the Red Ravens an early 3–0 lead.

Omar Ruiz set the tone on the mound for Coffeyville. The right-hander earned the win after tossing six shutout innings, allowing just three hits while striking out eight and walking three. Ruiz was dominant from the outset, even recording an immaculate inning in the first by striking out the side on nine pitches.

Declan Murphy took the loss for Eastern Oklahoma State College, surrendering three runs on four hits over 3⅔ innings while striking out two and walking two.

The Mountaineers were held to five hits offensively. Dawson Smith drove in the team's lone run and finished 1-for-4 at the plate. Cole Edmondson, JM Long, Caleb Rey, and Kooper Johnson each added a hit. Defensively, Eastern Oklahoma was clean in the field with no errors, and Clayton Sanders handled a team-high nine chances.

 

Game 3:

Eastern Oklahoma State College Takes Early Control in 12–1 Win Over Coffeyville. 

Eastern Oklahoma State College jumped out early and never looked back, cruising to a 12–1 victory over the Coffeyville Red Ravens on Saturday.

The Mountaineers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning. Bryson Carey was hit by a pitch, Nate Lloyd and Gamble Bye each drew walks, and Dawson Smith followed with an RBI groundout as Eastern Oklahoma plated four runs in the opening frame.

Eastern Oklahoma extended the lead in the second inning. JM Long doubled down the left-field line to bring in a run, Carey added an RBI on a sacrifice fly, and Lloyd singled to center to cap another three-run inning.

The Mountaineers added another run in the third when Bye scored after tagging up, building a commanding advantage.

Brandon Green earned the win on the mound for Eastern Oklahoma State College. The right-hander allowed just one hit and one run across five innings, striking out three and walking two. Coffeyville starter James Wise was charged with four runs over one inning, while Nickelson allowed two runs on three hits in relief.

Eastern Oklahoma State College totaled 10 hits in the contest. Carey led the offense with three RBIs while going 2-for-3. Braden Sprague, Carey, and Long each collected two hits, and Bye reached base consistently with three walks. As a team, the Mountaineers showed patience at the plate, drawing 11 walks and adding three stolen bases.

 

Game 4:

Eastern Oklahoma State College Mistakes Too Much To Overcome Against Coffeyville. 

Coffeyville opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a pair of singles, including an RBI knock by Colton Ruedy to take an early 1–0 lead.

The Mountaineers answered in the top of the third. Kooper Johnson sparked the rally with a double, Braden Sprague followed with a triple, and Clayton Sanders added an RBI groundout to even the score at 3–3.

The Red Ravens responded decisively in the bottom half of the inning, plating six runs on three hits to seize control of the game. Nathan Tajchman delivered the biggest blow of the frame with a two-run single as Coffeyville surged ahead 9–3.

Haden Arterburn earned the win for Coffeyville, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits over four innings while striking out seven and walking two. Ethan Oatman took the loss for Eastern Oklahoma State College after surrendering eight runs (three earned) on six hits in 2⅓ innings. Rider King closed the door to secure the save.

Offensively, Sean Raucher led Eastern Oklahoma State College with two hits from the eight spot in the lineup. Sprague, Sanders, Raucher, Luke Altom, and Johnson each recorded an RBI for the Mountaineers.

Defensively, the Mountaineers made seven errors in the field and put themselves in some bad situations throughout the seven inning contest.

The Mountaineers will look to rebound with a midweek matchup at home against the Dragons of Paris Junior College.
