Lady Mountaineers Power Past UA Cossatot, 102–68
LOCKESBURG, Arkansas — The Eastern Oklahoma State College women's basketball team delivered a dominant performance on Monday night, defeating the University of Arkansas at Cossatot 102–68 on the road.
The Lady Mountaineers came out strong from the opening tip, racing to a 28–11 lead after the first quarter and never looking back. Eastern's combination of defensive pressure, rebounding control, and balanced scoring allowed them to extend the margin throughout the game, taking a 55–31 lead into halftime.
Sophomore forward Alanna Williams led Eastern with 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting, including three made three-pointers, while also collecting eight rebounds.
Parish Norfleet was dominant in the paint, recording a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double on 9-of-14 shooting.
Freshman McKayla Minor added 14 points and seven rebounds, and Freshman Jayda Moore filled the stat sheet with 10 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Freshman Piper Warrencontributed nine points and nine rebounds.
The Lady Mountaineers controlled the boards all night, finishing with a 67–44 rebounding advantage, including 31 offensive rebounds that led to numerous second-chance points.
Defensively, Eastern forced 35 turnovers and recorded 23 steals, consistently converting scrappy defense into transition opportunities.
For the host Colts, Chanice Jones led all scorers with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Mallorie Scoggins added 13 points and five steals.
With the win, Eastern Oklahoma State improves its early-season record to 1-2. The Lady Mountaineers will return to action on Tuesday, November 11, when they host Neosho County Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm.
