Lady Mountaineers Defeat Friends University JV 73-60
The Eastern Oklahoma State College women's basketball team earned a 73-60 victory over Friends University JV on Saturday afternoon at the C.C. Dunlap Fieldhouse, using a strong opening quarter and an aggressive defensive performance to secure the home win.
Eastern jumped out to a 27-12 lead after the first quarter and maintained control throughout, finishing with four players scoring in double figures.
Sophomore Aiyanna Mason led the Lady Mountaineers with 16 points, including two three-pointers and a 4-of-6 performance at the free-throw line. Sophomore Parish Norfleet added 13 points and five rebounds, while sophomore Alanna Williams contributed 12 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Freshman Jordan Jackson delivered a standout all-around performance with seven points, five assists, and an impressive seven steals, helping Eastern force 22 total takeaways on the afternoon.
Eastern dominated the offensive glass with 20 offensive rebounds, generating consistent second-chance scoring opportunities. Despite shooting 28.9 percent from the field, the Lady Mountaineers' defensive pressure and efficiency at the free-throw line (16-of-20, 80%) proved decisive.
With the win, Eastern improves to 3-2 on the season. The next scheduled home contest will be against Grayson College on November 25th, with tip-off scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
